Why shouldn’t you wear heels during Pregnancy?

While you are expecting, to wear or not wear heels may be a big question for you. If you are used to wearing high heels on a regular basis, it will be extremely tough for you to let go of your ‘lofty statement’ when you are pregnant.

Lots of women do wear heels throughout their nine months, however, GYN strictly recommend against doing so and with some valid reason as well! A number of reasons tell you why you need to give your heels some break for the period of pregnancy because there might be a pain and come with certain risks.

Following are the main effects of wearing heels:

  • Calf Cramps:

Wearing heels for longer time leads to cramp in the muscles because your calf muscles are in a contracted position. This may be aggravated during pregnancy.

  • Back Pain:

High heels are hypothetical to alter your posture. The pelvic muscles of yours are curved ahead, giving a rounder shape to your back.

You will acquire a substantial amount of weight around the front in pregnancy and this change in posture will cause discomfort.

The ligaments in legs and lower back are loosened during pregnancy. Putting on heels lays excess pressure on the pelvic and back points, because the support is improper. This results in aches around ligaments and joints of lower back and pelvic area.

  • Miscarriage:

If pregnant woman wears high heels she is at a higher risk of having spontaneous abortion. The pregnancy is in jeopardy due to the risk of twisting or falling. Therefore, why venture into actions that could endanger your pregnancy.

For the above reasons it is advisable to wear sturdier and lower heels. It is fine to wear low heels in your first trimester, after which the hormonal flow rises and your muscles begin to stretch. Hence, later on change your heels with flats for daily purpose.
